Weekly Round Up

Another standard week after the end of the CyberGamer Pro leagues, with RLO Sunday and both Gameroos running as usual. Attendance in all of these events have been at an all time high with 19 teams in RLO, 27 in Gameroos Tuesday and 25 in Gameroos Thursday, and almost all of the top 10 teams have been entering. Many teams are looking for The Chase points which will send the top 8 teams on the table into the finals at the end of the month. Abyss have been continuing their winning streak, winning both the tournaments they entered this week and have finally completed their roster by accepting Cyrix into the fold officially. As the new teams from #oceshuffle are coming out of the woodwork, so are the sponsors and 3 teams have been picked up this week. We also have more team changes coming through the teams as they look to find the winning combination. A turbulent but exciting time for OCE Rocket League.

1 -Athletico

Bango, SnarfSnarf, Montyconnor, Jcooke | Nil movement
Athletico have extended their well-earned competitive break for another week. Due to Abyss's activity and dominance in the scene currently, the gap is very close between 2nd and 1st. Athletico was winning all the Big Tournaments so they can still hold their spot for now, but if this break continues the top spot might be able for Abyss if they can again dominate the week. There has been banter on Twitter between the two teams this week about the rankings, now the fans want to see it settled on the field! - Tibore

2 -Abyss eSports

Express, Addzey, Cyrix, Debat | Nil movement
If the twitter banter is anything to go by, Abyss rate themselves at no 1 already, and they could well be - if they can take a title, or even a match off Athletico. Problem is, Athletico's not giving them a chance to do so, because they've not entered any competitions this week! Abyss are doing the right thing, keeping their skills up and maintaining competitive participation. This week they stumbled against Alpha Sydney + Slut in the RLO final but their performance was good enough to keep them one rank ahead of AS for this week. One thing can be counted on: Abyss are baying for Athletico's top spot, so when they do finally meet again, it's going to be a match of titanic proportions. - Chrisis

3 -Alpha Sydney

Dumbo, Dicky, Stoney, GroovyGrape | + 1
Alpha has done some recruiting over the offseason with pick up of GroovyGrape as a sub. I honestly think this is a great move for both parties involved. Last season, Alpha had to use Shaw for a few tournaments and they didn't enter as many weekly tournaments as I'd like them to have entered. I expect Groovy to get a lot of game time, due to The Chase, and improve as a player which in the end will definitely strengthen the Alpha Sydney line-up.

Now onto their results for the week. To start the week off they entered RLO As and had a great run! They made it all the way to the final beating legacy 3-2 on the way before facing Abyss in the finals. Unfortunately, due to some ping issues, Alpha loss 1-4.
The boys also entered Gameroos Tuesday where they came up against Gameroos in the quarter-finals. They went down in a 0-2 loss whilst sadly experiencing some more ping issues.

Really excited to see what results these guys can get with GroovyGrape.

4 -Legacy

Soma, Orion, Eren, Penor | - 1
Once again, Legacy have switched places with Alpha Sydney. It seems these two teams are so close together that it's never surprising to see one take over the other. This week we saw Legacy lose to Alpha Sydney in RLO after a close 2 - 3 series. They also traded blows with Furox in both RLO and Gameroos Tuesday, and so Alpha Sydney have shifted ahead of them. They are however poised near the top of the Chase tournament points and will be looking to steamroll the finals at the end of the month. They have a big chance to climb up once again. For now, we'll keep watching their results with great interest. - yumi_cheeseman

5 -Gameroos

yumi_cheeseman, aoe_emp, DabeastXD | Nil movement
The Gameroos have taken the off-season as a chance to throw together a few combos ("editions" as they like to call em) and see what happens. The results haven't been too bad, with a number of podium finishes over the last week, despite the steady rotation of lineups. Whether this will translate into serious success down the track is another question, but for now it's maintaining their "team to watch" status, since right now, you never know what you're going to get when they show up to compete. - Chrisis

6 -Corvidae

Daisu, Siki, Daze | Nil movement
After bursting onto the scene as Simple Physics, the core line-up of Daisu, Siki and Daze have attracted the attention of Corvidae, and the OCE scene has a new murder on its hands. It's been a while since Corvidae last withdrew from the scene so it's great to have them back. Like the various editions of Gameroos, the crows have had a number of decent podium finishes this week, and even took Abyss to the fifth game before succumbing. That's a pretty decent outing for a roster that is still getting settled. Look for more excitement from this team in the coming season of OCE Rocket League!Chrisis

7 -FuroX

Toxic95, Zepsy, Jcoffee, Kapow_Power | + 2
Furox, formerly known as "Trinity", has continued their performance of recent weeks with a great one this week. To start off, they beat singularity in the RLO tournament but ended up losing to Legacy eSports, an expected result given their rankings. However, in the Gameroos tournament, they got their sweet revenge, beating them in the quarter-finals 2-0. Not only did they beat the number 4 in the power rankings, but they kept the dream alive winning against gameroos XD in the Semis putting them into the Grand Final. Unfortunately, they lost in a hard fought battle against the team that has been on fire in the past weeks: Abyss eSport.

Kicking out Legacy eSports and Gameroos is enough proof that these boys are becoming better and better, although the gameplay can be shaky sometimes, they have shown a lot of potential to compete with the top. Moving up 2 spots, can we expect them to continue these results and climb the rankings?

8 - Team Erase

Lukorice, Fachy | - 1
Team Erase are going through the rebuilding phase. A few of the guys have stepped down and at the moment it's just Lukorice with the addition of Fachy, who in my opinion is a great pickup right now.

As they look for that illustrious third, they have still been entering weekly tournaments. This week they entered RLO As and beat BlitzKrieg 2-0 before losing 0-2 to Alpha Sydney.

Here's hoping they find the perfect third that fits their playstyle because lukorice + fachy is already a mean combination, to begin with, and with the right player they can definitely challenge for a CGp spot next season.

9 -Mayne eSports

Seniaz, Snowy <4, Stics, SsTeVe | + 1
Mayne eSports have been strong again this week. They were taken out by Abyss in the Sunday RLO, and managed 4th place in the Gameroos Tuesday Tournament. They didn't make it to the Thursday Gameroos final though in an essential pool of death for them featuring Abyss, Gameroos and a very strong pug team. They are proving consistent now and well deserving of their 9th spot. I am excited to see how much this team can push their ability and looking forward to see what they can achieve. Tibore

10 - Singularity

JusticeRobo, Wolfeeyyy | + 1 New
Singularity have continually showed promise, but have not been able to climb in the upper region of the power rankings. They bring a solid 2 up 1 back style to the pitch and have managed to win or come close to some of the higher teams. If they can keep improving, stick together and power through the off season, they'll have a great road ahead of them, but only time will tell if they put in the work. It's otherwise been a quiet week for them as their biggest achievement was making it to the top 10 finals of Gameroos Thursday. - yumi_cheeseman
